Dear Consumer,
After weeks of vetting metal detecters, I bought one over <amazon>, via Andrew Christian – 325 W. Cerritos Ave., Glendale, CA 91204. It took over six weeks to be delivered.
It is a Rothco Traker IV metal detecter, and I had high expectations of its functionality.
Not so.
I am a scientist, trained in Experimental Design, but this was simple. I went to my soft, pebble-free back yard, and dug a trowel hole about six inches deep. Subsequently, I deposited and covered in the hole the following items, one at a time:
[1] a single copper coin;
[2] two copper coins];
[3] one silver dollar;
[4] two silver dollars, and last, a plastic bag with
[5] a heavy gold watch and an Atocha (Mel Fisher) gold ring.
Each time, I covered the 5-6″ hole with loose [i.e. hand packed - as in making a pancacke] soil.
The detecter -on NO combinations of modes – would make a single sound.
I pulled each out, one by one, and layed them on the surface. I was then able to get a high-pitched ringing. NO discrimination for metal type.
For this I paid $225.00 plus shipping?
Not gonna happen.
